Your family’s data.
Your family’s devices.
Chore Miner is built to work without a Chore Miner account, cloud database, or app analytics service. Here’s exactly what that means.

1. Who this policy covers
Chore Miner is operated by Jonathan Swift. Parents and guardians manage their family’s use of the app. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@choreminerapp.com.
2. What the app stores
The app stores child names and avatars, quests and assignments, reward and badge settings, gem balances, completion and purchase history, reminder preferences, and pending actions on your family’s devices. It also stores device-access records and sync status needed to connect the family safely.
Parent PIN verifiers, recovery-code verifiers, and device private credentials are kept locally using Apple’s Keychain. Private device keys are not included in invitation QR codes.
3. What we receive
We do not receive your family’s app profiles, chore history, gem balances, rewards, PINs, recovery codes, or device keys. The app does not send us advertising identifiers, usage analytics, or crash reports. It has no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or Chore Miner backend.
If you voluntarily contact support, we receive the information you include in your message and your contact details. Please avoid sending child names, PINs, recovery codes, pairing codes, or backup passwords. We use support messages to respond and resolve the issue, and retain them only as needed for support and applicable recordkeeping obligations.
4. Sharing with your family
Authorized nearby devices exchange family information through authenticated, encrypted connections using Apple’s built-in frameworks. Pairing uses a short-lived invitation and approval from an authorized nearby parent. Parent devices can manage the family; child devices receive their assigned profile, quests, rewards, and their own history.
Nearby syncing requires the apps to be open. The app does not provide internet-based remote syncing or remote push notifications. An offline device keeps its last known information and sends queued actions when it reconnects.
5. Permissions and local notifications
- Camera: scans family invitation QR codes. The app does not upload camera images.
- Local Network: discovers and communicates with nearby family devices.
- Notifications: optional on-device alerts and reminders. Newly synced activity can trigger local notifications; Chore Miner does not use a remote push server.
You can manage these permissions in your device’s Settings. Denying camera permission still allows an invitation link to be entered manually. Denying Local Network access limits nearby syncing.
6. Backups and device protection
Parents can manually export a password-protected, authenticated encrypted backup. Chore Miner does not automatically upload it. You choose its destination through Apple’s file picker; a location you choose may itself be a cloud-storage provider. Backups include family configuration and history, balances, reminder settings, and pending actions. They exclude device private credentials, parent PINs, recovery codes, and delivered-notification state.
Family files use iOS data protection. Apple’s device backup and restore services may include app data according to your device settings; those services are governed by Apple’s policies. Keep devices secured and save recovery codes and backup passwords outside the app. We cannot recover those secrets.
7. Your controls and deletion
Parents can edit or archive a child, permanently delete a child’s data, revoke a device, leave the family on one device, or reset the family. Archiving preserves history. Permanent deletion removes the child’s history, balance, queued work, and reminders as family devices sync. Leaving clears that installation without deleting the family on other devices.
Offline devices learn deletion or revocation when they reconnect. Until then, they may retain earlier information or trust earlier access. Removing access cannot remotely erase data on a lost device or previously exported backups. Minimal signed device-access/deletion records may be retained to prevent removed identities and deleted profiles from returning during sync. You control retention of your exported backup files.
8. Children’s privacy
Chore Miner is intended for family use under a parent or guardian’s supervision. Parents set up profiles, authorize device access, choose tasks and rewards, and manage the stored information. Children do not create cloud accounts or share information publicly through the app. We do not collect children’s app information on a server.
9. Diagnostic exports
Parents can choose to export a diagnostic file containing the app version, error codes, sync status, and counts. It excludes child names, chores, history, PINs, recovery codes, and private credentials. Nothing is sent automatically. You decide whether to share the file with support.
10. This website
This website does not connect to your family’s app data. We have not added analytics, advertising trackers, email signup forms, or nonessential cookies. Fonts and artwork are served with the website rather than loaded from third-party font or image services.
When deployed on Vercel, the hosting provider may process ordinary request information, including IP address, browser information, requested URL, and access/security logs to deliver and protect the website. This is separate from the app’s on-device family data. Email links open your email app; sending a message is your choice.
11. Changes and contact
We will update this page and its effective date if our practices change. If a future app version materially changes how family information is handled, we will explain that change in the app before introducing it. For privacy or support requests, contact support@choreminerapp.com.
