Let’s get you
back to the adventure.
Quick answers, useful steps, and a real way to reach us. Help is also bundled in the app for when you’re offline.
Email supportStart your family
- Choose Start your family’s mine, set and confirm your parent PIN, and save your recovery code outside the app.
- Add children, select quest templates, and choose rewards and gem costs.
- For another device, generate an invitation in Family, scan it on the joining device, and approve enrollment on the inviting parent’s device. Invitations expire after 15 minutes.
Get nearby sync working
- Keep both apps open nearby. Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and allow Chore Miner’s Local Network permission in Settings.
- Open the sync details screen to see connections, last sync, and queued work. Choose Sync now.
- If a connection stalls, bring devices closer and reopen both apps. Internet alone does not enable remote sync. Check that both devices have the latest compatible app version.
Recover a parent PIN
- On the existing parent device, choose Forgot PIN and enter that device’s saved recovery code. Set and confirm a new PIN, then save the newly rotated recovery code.
- Alternatively, ask another authorized parent to approve the recovery request while both apps are open nearby.
- If the PIN, recovery code, and another parent are unavailable, restore a password-protected backup. Recovery cannot promote a child device into a parent device.
Manage family devices
- In parent Settings, open Family → Devices to inspect roles and assigned children, rename devices, or remove access.
- Removed device identities must receive a fresh invitation to reconnect. Other devices learn the removal through sync.
- Revocation cannot erase data already stored on a lost device. Keep your phone/iPad protected with its own device passcode.
Notifications & reminders
- Allow notifications in Settings. Parent devices receive parent alerts, and child devices receive that child’s alerts.
- Daily reminders are optional and off by default. Parents can choose child quest reminders and parent approval summaries.
- Activity notifications arrive when nearby devices sync. Offline reminders use the last synced information. Reward celebrations stay queued until the child acknowledges them.
Back up & restore
- Enter parent Settings → Export backup, re-enter your PIN, and set a confirmed password of at least 12 characters. Choose where to save the file.
- Keep the password separately. It cannot be recovered. The app does not automatically upload backups.
- Restore backup previews its contents before replacing local family data. Restoration requires fresh parent setup and pairing on other devices. Never delete your only backup before confirming the restore.
Nearby means nearby. Keep the apps open to exchange updates. Chore Miner does not use a server to deliver activity when family devices are apart or sleeping in the background. Local reminders can still run on the device.
A few more helpful answers.
My QR code says “no usable data found.”
Use Join with a parent’s QR code → Scan QR code inside Chore Miner. Ask the parent for a fresh invitation and keep both apps open nearby. You can also enter the complete invitation link manually.
Why are submitted quests still waiting?
Quests require parent approval by default. If the parent device is offline, the submission must sync first; after that, the parent can approve or return it. Pending work does not award gems.
A reward purchase was rejected after syncing.
When devices spend offline, purchases are reconciled against the available gems in timestamp order. A later purchase may be rejected if earlier activity used the balance. Rejected purchases do not spend gems; the app explains the result. Keep device clocks accurate.
How do I undo an approval?
Open the child’s dashboard in parent mode, find the approved quest in history, and choose Undo approval & ask to retry. The quest’s gems are removed and the child can try again.
How do I archive or delete a child?
Use parent Settings to edit the child profile. Archive preserves history and revokes child-device access. Permanently delete requires parent PIN re-entry and typed confirmation; offline devices clear the deleted data when they reconnect. Previously exported backups cannot be erased remotely.
Does parent mode automatically lock?
No. Parent mode stays active until you lock it manually. On a shared device, always tap Lock before handing it to a child. Sensitive actions still ask for your PIN again.
How do sound and animations work?
Sound respects the device’s volume and silent mode. Reduce Motion limits ambient animations. iPhone and iPad accessibility settings control larger text and VoiceOver.
What should I send support?
Describe what happened, the device model, iOS/iPadOS version, and app version. A parent can export diagnostics if useful. Do not send a child’s history or any PIN, recovery code, pairing invitation, or backup password.
Still stuck? We’re here.
Send your device model, iOS version, app version, and a description of what happened. Keep private family details and recovery information on your devices.
