Before you begin

  • The .choreminerbackup file and its password.
  • Plan to create a new parent PIN and save a new recovery code.
  • Other family devices will need fresh invitations after restoration.
01

Choose and unlock the backup

#
  1. On a configured parent device, export the current data first if you need to preserve it.
  2. Open Settings → Restore encrypted backup. On a new installation, use Restore an encrypted backup on the welcome screen.
  3. Tap Choose .choreminerbackup file and select your file.
  4. Enter its backup password. If the current family is still accessible, enter its current parent PIN where requested.
  5. Enter and confirm a New parent PIN for the restored installation.
  6. Tap Unlock and preview backup.

Review before replacing anything

#
  1. Check the saved date and counts of children, quests, rewards/badges, quest records, and reward records.
  2. If it is the wrong backup, cancel and select another file.
  3. When it is correct, tap Replace family with this backup and confirm the replacement.
  4. Save the new parent recovery code outside the app and acknowledge it.
03

Reconnect and verify the restored family

#

Restoration starts a fresh family connection and device identity. Historical rewards do not intentionally replay old celebrations or notifications. Outstanding approval and delivery work remains available.

  1. Check the restored child names, available gems, history, and pending approvals or reward deliveries.
  2. In Family, create fresh invitations for the child devices and other parent devices.
  3. Join and approve each device, explicitly confirming connection replacement where asked.
  4. Keep the apps open and finish a nearby sync.
  5. Retain your previous backup until you have checked the restored data on the devices you use.
