Set up your first family
Create your parent PIN, add children, and choose your first quests and rewards.
Before you begin
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS/iPadOS 16 or later with Chore Miner installed.
- Decide which device will be the first parent device. Create the family on that device only.
- Open Chore Miner and tap Start your family’s mine.
- Enter a six-digit parent PIN. Tap Continue.
- Enter the same PIN again and tap Continue. Choose a PIN your child does not know.
- On Meet your miners, type a child’s name and tap the + button.
- Repeat for each child. Use a nickname if you prefer.
- Remove an accidental entry with the minus button, then tap Continue. You can edit names and avatars later in Settings.
- Tap the quest templates you want to include. Selected templates show a checkmark.
- Start with a few clear responsibilities your child can finish, such as making a bed, feeding a pet, or reading.
- To make a custom responsibility, tap Create your own quest, fill in its details, and save.
- Tap Continue. Template quests start as daily quests with parent approval required; you can edit those settings afterwards.
- Select rewards your family is prepared to provide. Tap Create your own reward for another idea.
- Tap Open our mine.
- When your recovery code appears, write it down or save it in a password manager outside the app. Keep it private.
- Turn on I saved this code outside the app, then tap Continue.
- Review the Family screen. Connect a child’s device, invite another parent, or set up shared-device use.
