Fix QR scanning and pairing problems

Resolve unusable codes, expired invitations, camera permissions, and an enrollment that will not finish.

If the Camera says “no usable data found”

  1. Open Chore Miner on the joining device.
  2. Tap Join with a parent’s QR code → Scan QR code.
  3. On the parent device, open the intended child’s Pair screen or Connect another parent.
  4. Tap Refresh QR code and scan the newly displayed code.
  5. Hold the devices steady and make sure the whole code is visible without glare.
  6. If scanning still fails, use the complete pairing link in Or paste a pairing code.

If camera access is off

  1. On the joining device, open system Settings and find Chore Miner.
  2. Enable Camera. The app entry may be under Apps on newer OS versions.
  3. Return to Chore Miner and reopen the scanner.
  4. If the camera is unavailable, close the scanner and paste the complete invitation link instead.

If joining is waiting for the family

#
  1. Keep the inviting parent’s app open nearby.
  2. Enable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Local Network access on both devices.
  3. Check for Approve new device on the parent’s screen and confirm the intended device/role.
  4. Generate a fresh invitation if the original expired or was already used.
  5. Update both installations to a compatible app version.
  6. Try both devices on the same Wi-Fi network and reopen the apps if necessary.
