Change or recover a parent PIN

Use a saved recovery code or another nearby parent without giving parent access to a child device.

Change a PIN while you still have parent access

  1. Open the parent portal and tap Family.
  2. Tap Change this device’s parent PIN.
  3. Enter and confirm a new six-digit PIN.
  4. Tap Save new PIN. The PIN change applies to this device, not other parents’ devices.

Recover with this device’s saved code

  1. On the existing parent device’s PIN screen, tap Forgot PIN?.
  2. Enter the recovery code saved for this exact parent device.
  3. Enter and confirm a new six-digit PIN.
  4. Tap Recover with saved code.
  5. Save the newly generated recovery code outside the app and acknowledge it. The previous recovery code is invalid after successful recovery.

Ask another authorized parent for help

  1. On the locked parent device, open Forgot PIN and tap Request help from another parent.
  2. Keep both parent apps open nearby.
  3. On the other parent’s device, open Settings → Devices & sync and find the parent recovery request.
  4. The other parent re-enters their PIN and approves the named parent device.
  5. On the recovering device, enter and confirm the new PIN, then tap Save new PIN when approval appears.
  6. Save and acknowledge the new recovery code.

If every recovery option is unavailable

If you have lost the PIN, that device’s recovery code, and access to another authorized parent, the recovery route is restoring an encrypted backup with its password. There is no email reset or support-held master code.
