Respond to a save or recovery error
Protect existing files when the app reports an unreadable save, interrupted write, or incompatible version.
If Your save needs attention appears, editing and syncing are paused to protect the saved files. Do not delete the app, reset the family, or repeatedly import unrelated backups.
- Read the displayed error and note what happened before it appeared.
- Check that the device has free storage in system Settings → General → iPhone/iPad Storage.
- If the error asks for a newer app version, update Chore Miner on the device.
- Tap Retry saved file.
- If retrying does not work, choose Restore local checkpoint on the recovery screen.
- Check the restored family, balances, and history before resuming use.
- Remember that a checkpoint may be older than the newest actions. Sync carefully with another device that retained newer work.
- If checkpoint recovery fails or data appears incomplete, contact support before clearing anything.
- Keep the original installation and backup files.
- Choose Import encrypted backup and follow the restore guide.
- Preview the backup’s date and contents before confirming replacement.
- After restoration, set fresh parent access and re-pair other devices.
- Open family apps nearby and sync before updating or moving devices.
- Export a recent encrypted backup and check where it is saved.
- Install app updates in place. Do not delete the app first.
- After updating, check the existing family, balances, and recent records.
- For a new physical device, either pair it with a remaining parent or restore a backup if the old family cannot be reached.
